From August 13 to 15, the 5th Gasification Slag Resource Utilization Technology Seminar, jointly organized by the Industrial Solid Waste Network and other institutions, was held in Yan’an, Shaanxi. The conference focused on high-value utilization, industrial application, and diversified approaches for gasification slag, emphasizing technological innovation, equipment upgrades, and industrial collaboration to explore new pathways for reducing pollution and carbon emissions under the "dual-carbon" goals. Researcher Bao Shaolin, a technical support expert from zhgas, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote report titled "R&D and Engineering Application of Coal Water Slurry Gasifier-Gasification Slag Incineration Technology."

In his presentation, Researcher Bao shared the characterization studies of gasification fine slag and the industrial-scale exploration of its combustion utilization, conducted by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and ZHGAS. Building upon the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) laboratory technology developed by IET, ZHGAS has successfully upgraded and expanded the high-efficiency combustion utilization technology for gasification slag, forming a comprehensive, industrially viable solution.

To date, ZHGAS has achieved commercial operation of CFB gasifier slag combustion treatment projects, with a comprehensive carbon conversion rate of up to 99%. For entrained-flow gasification fine slag, the company has innovatively designed a CFB boiler technical solution, which has been successfully applied in the Xinjiang Tianye Coal Water Slurry Gasifier Slag Treatment Project. Currently, the project is in the commissioning phase, demonstrating excellent operational performance. This marks a major breakthrough in China’s large-scale commercial comprehensive utilization of gasification slag, achieving full-chain innovation from R&D to engineering application.

The high-efficiency combustion utilization technology for gasification slag not only enables resource recovery but also generates high-parameter steam for power generation while ensuring ultra-low NOx emissions. This technological advancement is of great significance in promoting efficient, clean, and low-carbon coal utilization in China.
