Recently, CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ZHGAS) signed a contract with Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd. for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) of the 490,000-ton/year carbon-based solid waste resource recovery and waste heat & pressure utilization project.

This is ZHGAS' first air-suspended bed gasification ash disposal project. Upon commissioning, the project will achieve combined heat and power (CHP) generation from coal gasification, maximizing the utilization of coal. Based on the project's specific conditions and ash characteristics, ZHGAS' engineers have designed the use of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) incineration technology to process the gasification ash produced by the gasification units. The dewatered ash can be directly fed into the incineration system without drying, producing steam and realizing the staged utilization of coal.

The CFB incineration technology was independently developed by the Circulating Fluidized Bed Laboratory at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The research team focused on fine powder ash and gasification ash separated during coal gasification, developing a technology for the combustion and utilization of residual carbon. This technology overcomes challenges in fluidizing and circulating ultra-fine solid particles, as well as issues with ignition, stable combustion, and burnout of low-volatile carbon-based fuels. It successfully achieves efficient and pure combustion of gasification ash, offering advantages such as high ash treatment capacity, high steam parameters, high combustion efficiency, and significant reduction in disposal volume. The heat generated from burning ash is used to produce high-temperature, high-pressure steam for power generation, effectively realizing clean and efficient staged coal utilization. Additionally, this technology can also be applied to the disposal of other carbon-based solid wastes.
