At 10:30 AM on December 21, in the Xiangshui Coastal Economic Development Zone of Yancheng, Jiangsu, a "light up" command from the control room signaled the successful high-temperature bake-out and ignition of Units 3 and 4 of the Jiangsu Delong Coal-to-Clean Fuel Gas Project, undertaken by CAS Hefei Coal Gasification Technology Co., Ltd.
This ignition marks the comprehensive entry of the project's 4x80000 Nm3/h gasifiers (ZHGAS80000) into the pre-gas supply stage (Units 1 and 2 completed their dry-out process in September this year). It also lays a solid foundation for the gasifiers' feeding and start-up.
This high-temperature dry-out strictly followed the requirements of the dry-out curve, with temperatures gradually increasing. During the ignition and start-up phase, the furnace temperature was controlled to rise in an orderly manner through timely adjustments to the fuel oil volume. Once the temperature at the bottom of the furnace reached 500℃, the coal feeder began introducing coal, transitioning into the coal combustion phase. By adjusting the combustion load, the furnace temperature was controlled within 850±30℃, and this phase will last for over 168 hours.
To ensure the smooth progress of this dry-out operation, the project team members meticulously planned and thoroughly organized. They spearheaded the development of a scientific and rigorous dry-out plan and established a commissioning command center. Under the command center, specialized responsibility groups were formed for safety production, process, equipment, instrumentation & electrical (I&E), raw material supply, logistics, and laboratory, along with operational shifts, to ensure the smooth implementation of all aspects.
Throughout the entire dry-out process, on-site project staff will rigorously monitor flue gas temperatures at various points, including the gasifier and loop seawl, regularly inspect the operational status of all equipment, and record relevant data. Members of all teams will work together collaboratively and in close coordination, operating in 24-hour shifts to ensure the system runs smoothly, safely, and with high quality, fully meeting the dry-out requirements.
This high-temperature dry-out is expected to take 10 days and holds milestone significance in the overall engineering construction. The execution of this work is an important part of the company's process of exploring and realizing the industrialization of large-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal gasification technology. The company will take this dry-out as a new starting point, continue to accelerate project construction progress, and ensure the project is put into operation and achieves efficiency as soon as possible. With cutting-edge technology, the company aims to lead a green evolution in the coal gasification industry, contribute to energy conservation and environmental protection, and provide users with excellent clean energy solutions.
The Jiangsu Delong Coal-to-Clean Gas Project is located in the Xiangshui Coastal Economic Development Zone, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. Based on actual site conditions and fully considering the characteristics of the coal type, advanced circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal gasification technology was adopted to build a gasification plant for a local refinery. The project comprises four gasifiers, each with a capacity of 80,000 Nm3/h (ZHGAS80000). After the project is put into operation, it will provide fuel for 16 nickel-iron production line rotary kilns across four workshops of the refinery. The four gasifiers serve as mutual backups, ensuring the gas demand of the 16 rotary kilns in the four workshops. Additionally, through waste heat recovery technology, the plant will provide high-quality steam to the facility for power generation.
