In mid-February, ZHGAS signed a contract with Jiangsu Huiran Industry Co., Ltd. for an upgrade and renovation project related to coal gas station air preheaters. An agreement in principle had already been reached before the Spring Festival. After the New Year, affected by the epidemic, both parties followed special period work guidelines to avoid personnel gatherings and reduce travel. They negotiated cooperation details via video conference and completed the signing through mail. This signing process was streamlined and efficient, promoting normal business operations while avoiding personnel gatherings, demonstrating ZHGAS's proactive measure in quick response to the call for "simultaneously controlling the epidemic and promoting economic development."
Huiran Industry's coal gasification unit is the first industrial application of the first-generation circulating fluidized bed coal gasification technology developed by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has been operating stably for over 6 years. The air preheater in this unit is a shell-and-tube heat exchanger, with an outlet hot air temperature of only 190°C. There is room for optimization in terms of heat dissipation loss and heat exchange efficiency. The produced dry coal gas has a calorific value of 1200 kcal/Nm3, and the cold gas efficiency of coal gasification is merely 63%, which is far from the current upgraded CGAS furnace.
Addressing these issues, ZHGAS 's design engineers conducted numerical simulations using a circulating fluidized bed gasifier design calculation model, combined with an evaluation and analysis of the current production reality. They carried out a customized upgrade and renovation for this unit. While replacing the existing air preheater with a new type, they also optimized the process flow and adjusted key upstream and downstream parameters to guide various process indicators towards a steady-state operating point of low energy consumption and high efficiency, thereby achieving optimal operating conditions. According to calculations, after the renovation, the outlet hot air temperature of the heat exchanger can be increased to 600°C, the coal gas calorific value can reach 1300 kcal/Nm3, and the cold gas efficiency of coal gasification will also increase to over 70%, effectively achieving the goals of reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency.
This renovation project will significantly enhance the thermal efficiency and gasification efficiency indicators of the original coal gasification unit. This is attributed to ZHGAS's unique technological advantages and its core team's years of experience in project execution. As the industrialization platform for the "Industrialization of Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Technology" project under the CAS "Hongguang Special Program," ZHGAS has successfully implemented the market application of CGAS technology in industrial fields such as coal-to-syngas and coal-to-clean-gas. It has also built a number of high-quality demonstration projects that deliver a triple harvest of economic, social, and environmental benefits. Additionally, based on users' actual production needs and relying on its core team's rich experience in R&D, design, construction, and operation, ZHGAS can provide users with deeply customized coal gasification unit renovation solutions, along with full-lifecycle technical support and upgrade services, helping clients optimize energy efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve operational excellence.
